Where Are Most Biotechnology Companies in the United States Located?

Go to the Biotechnoology Industry Organization's Web page showing industry statistics at

www.bio.org/speeches/pubs/er/statistics.asp.

 Find the graph that shows the number of biotechnology companies in several states and provinces and blog/comment on these questions.

1.  Is your state or province shows in the data? If so, how many companies are reported in NJ?
2. List the seven states with the largest number of biotechnology companies.
3. Discuss the graph. Include a reference citation.

    The future life science economy is a wild card. Will your job be outsourced overseas or to a contract manufacturing company down the street? Will the region you’re in have the workforce to manage your company’s growth? Find a list of states that have a big concentration of jobs in multiple sectors, with workforce strength in multiple specializations.

    According to the latest Battelle Report on bio.org, it would seem that biotech companies are most concentrated here in the Northeast, especially New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
